Our School Values
As a Church school we have a distinctive character where Christian values are promoted in all aspects of school life. We encourage all members of the school community to promote a Christian ethos where care and respect is shown to everyone. As a Church school there are strong links with St. Lucius' Church. Our school values are: Trust, Peace, Compassion, Friendship and Forgiveness.
Each week one pupil from each class is selected for displaying one of our values or vision in and around school. This is celebrated as a whole school in collective worship and those children are our 'Vision and Values Star of the week'.
Hand To Mouth
We enjoyed a whole school visit from our friends 'Hand to Mouth' who focused their teaching on the Bible story "The Good Samaritan" for our younger children and our older children looked at 'The Holy Trinity' in more depth. The 'journey' is a really special event that our visitors set up. It is such a calm and relaxing space which allows our children to think deeply about various things, about how God or Jesus would help or react in these situations, and then how we can deal with things in our own lives.
Easter
As a school we went over to St Lucius' Church for our Easter celebration. We sang, acted out the Easter story, linked the story to our School Christian Values and shared pictures we had made of things seen on our Wonder Walk. We invited parents and carers over to church and the turn out was fantastic.
Remembrance
On Friday 10th November, we all visited the War Memorial in Farnley Tyas village as this year’s act of Remembrance. Just before 11am we made our way to the memorial and payed our respects by observing a two-minute silence and listened to a sounding of ‘The Last Post.’
Collective worship in St. Lucius' Church
All the pupils in school enjoy a visit to St Lucius Church. The selection of photos below show the pupils in Church enjoying singing carols at the coffee morning, the full school Christmas production and the Ash Wednesday service.
Special Visitors
We have a wide range of visitors to school help reinforce our Christian Values through, story telling, puppet shows, quizzes and drama.
